I have an old Hohner Vienna (I think) two row button accordion. It was smashed pretty badly and I had it professionally repaired. That was several years ago. I lent it to a frien and now have it back and I would lke to sell it, but I can't remember what key it played in. I don't want to sell it without being able to tell people that. I am not a strong musician so forgive my ignorance, but how do I determine what keys it plays in? The keyboard was rebuilt so the markings are gone. It is a 21 button box and I am pretty sure it has the accidental notes rather then the low notes. I have access to a tuner so I can hopefully figure this out if someone explains it to me. Thanks a lot. Rob McC

the 3rd button on each row is usually  provides the 'keynote' on the push of th bellows. So press 3rd button (from chin end!) push bellows and see what tuner says.  various possibilites include  (outside row first)  BC, CC#,C#D,DD#, DG, CF,GC , Eflat,Bflat,  other combinations may be possible but fairly unlikley.

Looks like it is CF tuning. Had to go to the piano though as the overtones drove the guitar tuner nuts.

Thanks,

It's not always the same button that gives the key. To be sure, select a row and play the only full scale available using just that row. ( ie, the full doh ray me fah so la tee doh . )

Test the doh note, it gives the key for that row.  Then do the same for the other row ( or rows).  You can see it done on this youtube video :
