Hi again everyone.
The police have found the address of the person selling the box on ebay.
They went around and found noone in
then an extra line appeared on the ebay page saying something like "now accepting offers -contact me"
the next day the police went round again and seized the box..
they then took it to theo gibb to identify it as mine (i'm in Norway presently on tour so couldn't g?
He has a copy of a invoice for work done on the box just before it was stolen, detailing felt put into bass end to smooth the sound. This combined with the button layout proved beyond reasonable doubt that it was my box.
Unfortunately when it arrived at theo's, the leather straps were missing and so were the metal 'feet' and the music room padded case. bugger!
Thanks a lot for everybody who helped find the box -it was very interesting, like a detective story...
here are a few interesting facts:
...the woman's story about her son's genetic illness and deformity turned out to be true, a quick googlewhack of her name turned out at least 4 newspaper articles featuring her and son (including one where she'd been nominated for a young persons bravery award)
...The police really needed pushing to get on with the job...to begin with they had planned to transfer the case to a police officer who was due to go on leave the next day for 5 days
...the history of the woman's ebay profile proved useful as she had previously sold a guitar effects pedal that was in the case when it was stolen, and the page for that item included a more specific location for that item, helping the police narrow the search.
I have now ordered a beautiful Beltuna Alex 3 through hobgoblin and so once theo has replaced the straps and feet I will be selling the castagnari mory for a very reasonable price. It's lucky the box turned up because it wasn't insured! -let that be a lesson to all of you!
