Anyway the title was meant to be Bacup - Easter Saturday!!!!

I'm hoping to get across to see the Britannia Coconut Dancers (aka Bacup 'nutters) on Easter Saturday. Does anyone know whether its worth dragging a melodeon along i.e. is there other folkie stuff going on around the town centre?

Bacup is a Great Day Out and highly recommended. The 'Nutters' start in Britania and dance/parade down the hill. They do Bacup in the afternoon and will dance in every pub (often behind the bar). The session has been in in the corner pub right/diagonally opposite the main opening in the town centre. Sorry - forgot its name. But just look in several pubs. AFAIR it is opposite a kabab shop.

Strongly recommended that you don't just to bed into the session. The dancers are fantastic and genuinely unique. Bacup always gives me a real lift. Might get there, but I'm on call that weekend and its max range for me. Chris Ryall (new member).

I used to get to Bacup every Easter Saturday and jolly good fun it was too. We used to go ever en masse with whoever was staying with us at the time - Flowers & Frolics, Old Swan, Tufty Swift, various Carthy/Watersons, Holly Tannen, Alison McMorland. We'd play all afternoon, watch the magnificent dancers and then come back and have a session in the evening close to home. They were brilliant days.

Time passes and priorities change but I think I may be moved to visit again this year. Long live Bacup.

For future reference - definitely worth the trip on an Easter Saturday. The 'nutters were great, as always, helped by the brilliant weather. Watching a unique Morth West morris side in its home town danced to the sound of a brass/silver band - champion!!!

As Chris suggested, there was a session going on in 'that pub' aka The Queens, with a changing variety of music and musicians, including Dave Hunt, whilst I was there.
