This is not so much an announcement of a forthcoming event but more of a fishing exercise to see if there are enough people out there to make something happen. As a rough outline (& open to any suggestions) I am thinking in terms of trying to start a regular gathering ?? monthly , maybe more or less freqently possibly in Bangor or Menai Bridge both of which are accesible easily by public transport. Venue probably licenced premises preferably with real ale available!! All being well it will take place in a 'private' room rather than public bar - but that would depend on what people want. Maybe saturday or sunday afternoon 'cos of travelling distances but again open to ideas.Instruments - anything with bellows, melodeons, button accordeons, piano accordions, concertinas of all 3 sorts. This mixture worked very well with now defunct Yorkshire Squeezebox Club that I was involved with many years agoand in a predominantly rural area may result in reasonble numbers of players turning up. The commonalities between different free reed instruments are far greater than their differences & many play more than one type anyway.Type of music - anything, preferably that others can join in with andhopefully varied but with perhaps more emphasis on traditional/folk/jolly tunes rather than over serious classical stuff. In essence more a sort of session rather than a take your turn to show off job.Standard/level of playing - any & all, beginners would be most welcome but it would not be a source of free lessons!! (although encouragement, advice & handy hints would hopefully be plentiful)-overall aim - to provide the chance to meet socially & to enjoy playing together on a fairly regular basis. Could work best as informal gathering rather than as a formal 'club' type of organisation. As I said this is a fishing exercise to assess possible interest before making any decisions on whether or not to try togo ahead. If anybody is interested email me atgeoergegarsid@talktalk.net, but not all at once!!! & please pass this onto any ?non melodeon sqeezebox players you know. Any comments, ideas etc most welcomegeorge
