I am in the process of suping up and repairing my pokerwork. I was wondering what is the "rule" for drilling new holes into one, I need to to install the replacement bellows straps and the ones I have require two extra screws. Two more things, putting felt under buttons? What kind of felt, and how is it done? Final point: a single note (F# on the G row) has gone far out of tune, what is a good course of action on the Eastern Seaboard?

__.  Hey, Gus.  You gotta be a little careful about drilling a hole in instruments and putting in screws but it's pretty straightforward.  Just be sure that you're not knocking a hole into anything that should be airtight and you're not putting a screw into moving parts.  But especially in the area where bellows strap brackets would be, there's usually no problem.  If you're reluctant, see if Jim Lewis (FBMM) will help you - it would probably be good to do some disassembly so that you can see where the screws will go.  Jim should also know about how to block the buttons up.

__.  For tuning, there's a guy right down the street from you named Ike Milligan.  He's a piano accordion tuner and I've never had him do any work on reeds but he's done bellows and valve work for me and he's good.  Do a google search for him.  Of course, the default on the East Coast US is Button Box in Massachusetts but I dunno if you wanna go through shipping etc. for one reed.

__.  Say Hi to your Dad for me and come to Open Band sometime.  BH, NC USA
