Is it just me, or is anyone else having the same trouble ?

All I can see on the web site at the moment is the T.B.A. screen that's been there for ages - or is it that I live too far south to be granted full access ?

If I can get the forms I hope to be there to put some faces to avatars

Fingers crossed ( & you try playing Speed the Plough like that ! )

SAE Required!

Those of you who forgot last year - remember to enclose a Stamped Addressed Envelope with your booking form. This is used to send back confirmation of your booking, so it only needs to be a small envelope. The music is sent out in an A4 envelope at a later date.

See you there.

Oh - edited to say A2 and B4 (I hope!)

Thanks for the reminder Steve, I did send an sae last year but I may have forgotten this time (wish I'd brought my cheque book in today).

There only seem to be 4 tutors this year instead of the the usual 5 so I guess there'll only be 80% of the usual places available

A4 and B4 for me (with second choice of A2 and B3)

Likewise yippee!!!

I'll be leaving work early just to get home to find my cheque book and make the evening post (any excuse to leave early).  I wasn't sure if to attend or not this year as I've only been playing a year in November but the enthusiasm of this board is infectious.  Looking forward to meeting some of you guys!

I think I'll be a A4 and B2.

See you in November

Unfortunately I won't be there this year as I now live way up north in Newcastle and have taken up a place on their folkworks course.Oh well- I get tutoring from Julian Sutton among others every week as the melodeon is my instrment of choice for the course. Enjoy Witney everyone!

Cheers

Really, don't let it worry you! I'd been playing two months when I first went two years ago

Wonder where the Friday session will be, since the Court is closed? Having missed it last year I would like to go this year...

Time to arrange the melodeonistas banquet then Steve?

Cheers

Good stuff! I was half expecting this to come out in August when I was on holiday in Oz so took SAE with me just in case! - A2 and B4 for me (I hope).

Once again I'll be out of the country when this event happens. I'm doomed never to be able to attend!  Oh well, perhaps I'll come back from Prague with a nice old helicon-bass Hlavacek........

Ditto, I'd had mine ten weeks when I went last year. Unfortunately I can't afford it this year as I'm off to Houston to visit in-laws soon after and the pennies won't stretch.

When the music comes through, it would be a kindness if some experienced board member could double check all the music for the classes, because last year they screwed up Tim Van Eyken's two dates, all we beginners learnt the hard stuff, and then didn't get to use it. I felt like I had wasted half my time and money.

Am I getting over excited / anxious etc.

I enclosed SAE & posted ASAP, but haven't received an acknowledgement yet - has anyone else ?

Or does it always take a while ?

Info from those with experience of the experience gratefully accepted

I recall it took ages last year for both things, we didn't get the tunes or dots until a couple or three weeks before!. I can't remember when acknowledgement of payment came out, but that took a while too.

Well this weekend (23rd & 24th Sep) is the Concertina Hands on Music weekend so I wouldn't really have expecting anything back from Dave until after that.

We might get something towards the end of next week.

Patience!!!!
Don't worry. In the last couple of years the there have been delays in sending both acknowledgments and music out, but it WILL get to you eventually. The music, especially, may not come until about 2 weeks beforehand. There is a tremendous amount of organisation going on behind the scenes to make the Hands on Music weekends run as smoothly as possible. Melodeons at Witney is probably the biggest event of them all. And as Peter Brook has pointed out, there is Concertinas at Witney to be got out of the way first.

Or, you could use them to play your shiny Pokerwork...a much better use of them, and will warm you up very nicely for the event itself

Hi all

fret ye not  I havent heard anything yet either, and as has been already stated, everything came eventually last year, including a course on Chirds !!! and getting the music the wrong way round for Tims class - especially hope that doesnt happen again this year, as I too felt that half my money had been wasted when Tim pointed that out to us the morning of the first day. apart from that we had a wonderful time, including Steves Sheffield Pizzafest.

I must admit that Tim's music being assigned to the wrong courdse was a blow . However , li am still playing Lemmies Brazil's No 2  from the day 2 workshop.

Indeed , the Sheffield meal was excellent . Are all the limericks in now , Steve ?

Hi Graeme

yes indeed I like Lemmies No 1 and no 2, and do intend to learn both of them - they are on the list of ones to learn, along with 100s more.  I also liked, learned and play "Peters Schottishe" from Tim I think it was one of his own compositions as his name is at the top of the score and Ive never seen it anywhere else - unless anyone knows better

We aim to please.....

The limericks are mostly all in, with the exception of just one or two people - YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE! Gerr'em writ, (as they say round here.)
In the event of continued non-submission, naming-and-shaming might be appropriate before too long, or perhaps some embarassing forfeit to be carried out at the restaurant, or possibly even footing the bill

Quite right, although there were a couple of extenuating circumstances which meant that I (big softie) accepted an IOUAL. It will soon be time to growl!

Re Friday night session. Seems the Court Inn has gone up/down market and has a big telly eytc. The Concertina.net people recomment the Eagle in Corn Street. Quote from the Concertinas @ Witney thread:

"It is on Corn Street, very close to the centre. One of the most friendly places I have been to. The session on Friday evening was booked by Dave T, when we left there about 1:30, we were invited to come back anytime so some of us did after the concert on Saturday."

Hi Lester

Further to what the concertina.net people say, I saw this on mudcat :::

The pub sessions in Witney this year were particularly lively and carried on into the small hours thanks to the goodwill of the Eagle Tavern (not to be confused with the Eagle Vaults, which is an entirely different establishment). The landlord also invited people to play in the lunchtimes as well as on Friday night and on Saturday after the main concert by the tutors.
