On TG4, the Irish-language TV channel, a programme about the box. Actually a lot of the dialogue is in English and the rest is subtitled. The programme centres on Martin Connolly of Kincora accordions - you get to watch him making, and talking about making, his boxes. Very interesting. Plus lots of clips of nice playing and interviews with players. Very enjoyable half-hour. Open the web TV console: http://www.tg4.ie/Bearla/webt/webt.htm Click on "Ceol - Cartlann". The programme "Ceird an Cheoil - 6/3/2007" is currently the first item in the list. Steve

A labour of love indeed. Nice to see how Martin fabricates his own reedblocks and mechanisms.

Kincora boxes look incredibly robust - the treble plate is a thick piece of wood, as opposed to the use of veneered aluminium on Italian boxes.

I particularly liked like Martin's blatant plug "...a good instrument will make you sound better, I think". Oh, but I couldn't agree more!

Odd though how they ended the film fading into a Gaillard box...

It looks like it has been removed -- the archive doesn't include that date. I would have liked to have seen the solid wood action board.

I dropped an email to TG4, if it's somewhere attainable. There was some interesting stuff regarding the building, I would have liked to see that again.
