I'm almost to the final step of sending the first payment, but before i do, and I've got him committed to packaging it correctly, are his boxes really that good? do they meet all the expectations a player would expect?

to answer the question 'are they really that good?'

I found myself sitting next to one at a session once, its owner let me try it, and it was superb,
probably the best box I'd played up to then. Lovely action and wonderful tone, although the latter can be a matter of taste. I remember being told it had been made in the Netherlands. I've no experience of his more recent products.

I got off to a bad start with mine.....( documented elsewhere on this site)..........and I am now sure the reeds need to re-set to get the most out of it,so I think there may yet be more to discovered.

      However,I love the tone of it and it grows on me more and more.Frank, I think you are spot on with the matter of tone......it  IS a matter of taste. I used to have a wet tuned Tommy that no but me liked !! ( I loved it)  A number of people have said how much thay like the sound of my VanderAa, so I'm happy with that. That said, more people comment on how it looks ( it's a very cool mid-night blue) than on how it sounds !  'nuf said !

The system of thumb switchs behind the finger board is very well made and easy to use ( three sliders)  Those on the left hand can really only be used whe not playing the basses.You have to move your hand completely away from the bass buttons to use them. This doesn't bother me at all.I don't use them during a tune.............or in fact much at all.
